Learning to Use the Money Program

The Money Program teaches you how to use coins and bills when you pay for something. The program asks you for a specific amount of money. You drag and drop different coins and bills into a blue box until it contains the correct amount. When you are done, you ask the program to check your answer. The program lets you know if your answer is correct.

The Money Program looks like this:

Here is how to use the program:

1. Click one of the buttons on the top left to choose one of the three levels. The levels are:

Your answers require just a few coins or bills, and not many different types. The program always starts at the EASY level.
At this level, your answers require more coins or bills, and more different types.
The Advanced level asks you to make change. For example, if someone gives you $5.00 to pay for an item that costs $2.75, how much change will you give back?

2. Click the button for the program to show you the next problem to solve.

3. Solve the problem by dragging and dropping coins and bills into the blue box. If you want to erase your answer and start over, click the button.

4. When you think you have the correct answer, click the button. The program checks your answer and lets you know if you are right.

5. To get a new problem, go back to Step 2.

Money

Money is anything that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts.[1] The main uses of money are as a medium of exchange, a unit of account, and a store of value.[2] Some authors explicitly require money to be a standard of deferred payment.[3]

The term "price system" is sometimes used to refer to methods using commodity valuation or money accounting systems.

The word "money" is believed to originate from a temple of Hera, located on Capitoline, one of Rome's seven hills. In the ancient world Hera was often associated with money. The temple of Juno Moneta at Rome was the place where the mint of Ancient Rome was located.[4]. The name "Juno" may derive from the Etruscan goddess Uni (which means "the one", "unique", "unit", "union", "united") and "Moneta" either from the Latin word "monere" (remind, warn, or instruct) or the Greek word "moneres" (alone, unique).
